Chronic prostatitis diet and treatment

prostatitis refers to the inflammation of the prostate. Commonly, when suffering from this disease, patients can feel the symptoms like frequency, urgency, burning sensation when urinating, difficulty urinating, pain in the abdomen, groin or lower back etc. And clinically, prostatitis can be classified as several types. Some types of prostatitis are caused by bacterial infections, while others have no definite cause.

Chronic prostatitis is a kind of prostatitis that trouble people for long time. Many people tried many ways to treat the disease, but the symptoms go away and return back. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, dietary changes may help prostatitis patients relieve the symptoms and reduce prostatic inflammation.

Drink cranberry juice

Cranberry juice has been used to help prevent and treat urinary tract infections for a long time. What is more, in recent year, scientists analyze substances contained by cranberry makes bacteria hard to attack the urinary tract, not even bring the UTI infection to people. Laboratory studies show that cranberries have antibacterial activity against staphylococcus aureus and other infection-causing organisms. So, this fruit can relieve the symptoms like urgency and frequency of prostatitis effectively.

Zinc

Zinc is a trace mineral that may help to reduce inflammation and enlargement of your prostate gland. Check with your physician before using zinc supplements to treat prostate inflammation. Besides, it has the function of promoting immune function to fight illness. Because your body has no natural way to store zinc, it's important to make sure you're getting from your daily dose. The good news is that it is easy to get Zinc from foods. The majority of American gets most of their zinc from meat and poultry. Besides, oysters contain abundant zinc as well. Other great sources for zinc include beans, nuts, crab, lobster, whole grains, fortified breakfast cereals, and dairy products.

Omega-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are fats that your body cannot produce, so you must obtain them from supplements or foods. These fats may help to reduce organ and tissue inflammation, and it is also helpful to refresh the tissues of your prostate gland. Acids are found in flax seeds, flax oil, walnuts and sunflower seeds, so you can obtain them from supplements or foods sources.

Choose plant protein over animal protein

Plant protein gives patients all the nutrients and health benefits needed for maximum prostate health. Diets rich in plant protein have been shown to reduce rates of prostate disease, especially for prostatitis.

Maximize fruit and vegetable

Fruits and vegetables contain high levels of antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, minerals, and fiber, which can help fight infections, inflammation and contribute to overall health. Poor health is a risk factor for prostatitis, fruits and vegetables are an antidote.

Consume green tea

Green tea contains substances called catechins that have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Research indicates that these catechins can be helpful in reducing infection and inflammation in prostate.

Restrictions

Avoid foods, beverages and drugs that contain nicotine, alcohol or caffeine. These diets may increase inflammation of your prostate gland, and may contribute to chronic prostatitis. Products that contain refined flours and sugars, such as soft drinks, candy, pastries, and ice cream and fast food items may also contribute to tissue inflammation.


Treatment

For chronic bacterial prostatitis, doctor may prescribe a low dose of antibiotics for 6 months to prevent recurrent infection. In some cases, surgery is needed if a patient has trouble emptying his bladder.  For Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis, Except for anti-inflammatory medicines and antibiotic medicine, pain medications and muscle relaxants are used in some cases. Massage and surgery are also optional.  No matter what kind of chronic prostatitis, herbal medicine is a good alternative treatment, such as the Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill that have been used for many years and been proved to have special effect to the disease.
