When pelvic effusion is diagnosed through ultrasound, some patients are so afraid that they are busy finding many treatments to cure it. In fact, there are two kinds of it. One is physiological pelvic effusion and the other is pathological. Generally, it is necessary for patients to take the treatment in time if pelvic effusion is pathological while patients shouldn't take the over-treatment for physiological pelvic effusion.

Due to the physiological structure, when there is percolate or transudate in enterocoelia, it is easy to flow into pelvic cavity and form pelvic effusion. Normally, during ovulatory or menstrual period, there is a little blood accumulating in pelvic cavity. If the amount of effusion is within 1cm, it is most likely to be physiological pelvic effusion, which will be absorbed by the body naturally within one or two months. Therefore, patients needn't too worry about it and take over-treatments.

In order to diagnose the type of pelvic effusion, it is better for patients to take ultrasound to estimate the amount of effusion. Besides, doctors also need to know the related symptoms, medical history and other signs to make a definite diagnosis. Generally speaking, if the amount of effusion is more than 1cm, patients can be diagnosed as pathological pelvic effusion.

Pathological pelvic effusion is mainly caused by inflammation like PID and annexitis. For example, women who have sexual life during menstrual period are most likely to cause infection that can become the etiology of pathological pelvic effusion. Patients with pathological pelvic effusion experience the symptoms of bilateral or unilateral abdominal pain, lumbosacral portion pain, soreness of waist etc. As patients are confused by this disease, it is necessary for them to take the timely treatment.

For pathological pelvic effusion, the main clinical treatments are as follow:

Physical therapy: through the stimulation of short wave, ultra-short wave and penetration of ions, pelvic effusion can be absorbed and gradually vanish.

Western medicine treatment: patients can take Alpha chymotrypsin 5mg or hyaluronidase 1500U through intramuscular injection every other day for 5-10 days or take antibiotics with oral dexamethasone 0.75mg three times a day.

Chinese herbal medicine treatment: the disease can be cured by anti-inflammatory herbal medicines like Fuyan Pill.
