As a common urinary tract infection, urocystitis can be treated by antibiotics or TCM like Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill. Meanwhile, the sound diet for urocystitis has become the focus that many patients pay close attention to.

First, keep far away from the acrid food and drink, such as fried food, pepper, black mustard, vinegar, fresh ginger, tobacco, alcohol and so on. If patients eat those acrid foods, it is possible to exacerbate infection which is bad for elimination of inflammation and the recovery of organism.

Second, keep the mild food and avoid some greasy food like chicken, fish, shrimp, crab, beef etc. for urocystitis patients, greasy food can stimulate the infected part and delay the recovery.

Third, citrus needs to be avoided. It is reported that eating citrus can make urine become alkaline, which is benefit for the growth of bacteria. Therefore, under the environment with too many bacteria, inflammation will spread and then the symptoms like frequency and urgency of urination, and pain when urinating will become severer.

Last but not least, coffee is forbidden too. It is better for patients to drink coffee because drinking too much coffee is most likely to cause spasmodic pain of bladder neck.

Meanwhile, patients with urocystitis can eat more escargots, corn, mung bean and welsh-onion stalk that are helpful for relieving the symptoms of frequency and urgency of urination, and pain when urinating. In order to ease the uncomfortable urination, patients are suggested to eat more diuretic food like watermelon, grape, pear and celery.

Besides, for urocystitis patients, drinking more water is the key in the recovery. They should drink more water to promote urination. Therefore, more water the body absorbs, the more urinating times patients have. Then it also can increase metabolism which is good for clearing inflammation.

All in all, in order to quicken the recovery, patients have to keep the sound diet. In addition to that, it is important for them to have the good habit of personal hygiene. For example, patients need pay attention to cleanliness of genital system and avoid the frequent sexual life. At the same time, it is better for them to avoid sharing private daily supplies with others.
