Why women are easier than men to suffer from UTI?

Generally, females urethral are much shorter than men, only 4 centimeters in length. Also, their urinary tract lumen is wide, and mouth is near to bacteria pollution area. Combined with a lot of genitalia ruffles of female's parasitic bacteria exist on the opening pace of urethral, bacteria will invade into it if the body resistance drops.

In four particular situations women are easy to get UTI.

Menstruation

Three to five days after menstruation, the patient will regularly suffer from a slight UTI two or three times every year. A bacterium is easy to breed in the blood and then pollute the urethra. In addition, body resistance is decreased at high speed in this period, so a tampon may disrupt the vagina's normal defense mechanism. Woman using a tampon will get a greater chance to be sick than those who just use sanitary napkin.

New wedding

Virgin's urethral mouth is covered and protected by labia majora and labia minora. Urethral cannot directly touch with the outside world, and therefore it is relatively clean. After the beginning of sexual life, the natural barrier is radically damaged. In new wedding, women usually enjoy richer sexual life and the vagina gets close friction from men's reproductive organ so that it opens a convenient way to bacterial invasion. If they do not pay attention to sexual health, it is more vulnerable to suffer from UTI. The spermicide may destroy the balance of bacteria in the vagina and make the protective bacteria reduce; in this moment harmful bacteria will took the opportunity to attack.
Furthermore, many women are busy with their honeymoon, with an exciting mood, the body is easy to fatigue and resistance falls quickly. Therefore, a large amount of brides suffered from illness, meanwhile bringing happiness and romantic day some trouble and embarrassment.

Pregnancy

When a woman became pregnant seven months later, her micturition system functions more slowly, but she will always discharge a lot of urine. This is because after a few months of pregnancy, huge uterine squeeze the bladder and urethra, so urine is easy to relent in the bladder and bacteria is easy to grow in the stagnant. Therefore, pregnancy period can greatly increase the chance of infection.

Climacterium

In this period, with the estrogen reducing, urinary mucosa degenerately changing and immunoglobulin and organic acid decreasing, it is also the peak period of UTI. According to statistics, after climacterium, UTI increased by 1% ~ 2% every 10 years.
