The Military World Games is a comprehensive highest-level military game in the world, known as the "Olympic Games for Soldiers." The first CISM Military World Games was held in Rome, Italy, from September 4 to 16, 1995. Four thousand seventeen military athletes from 93 countries and regions participated.
On February 18, 1948, Belgium, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands co-founded the Military World Games in Nice, France. Although the member states of the International Military Sports Council were initially limited to European countries, they had the idea of extending international military sports cooperation to the whole world at the beginning of their founding.
After the end of the cold war, the membership of the International Military Sports Council increased gradually. More and more countries joined the international military sports cooperation. Finally, the first CISM Military World Games was successfully held in Rome, Italy, in 1995. It has been held every four years since 1995. At present, there are 136 member countries with a duration of 7-10 days.
The CISM Military World Games is an important platform for the military of member countries to display their strength and image, conduct friendly exchanges, and expand international influence. The CISM Military World Games have been held in Italy(twice), Croatia, India, Brazil and Korea for six times in total, and will be held in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, a major province of traditional Chinese medicine in 2019.
It is organized by the International Military Sports Council, and in addition to the regular events, there are also military pentathlon, Aeronautical pentathlon, and Naval Pentathlon, parachuting and cross-country events which are not available in other sports meetings.
It is reported that the emblem of the 7th CISM Military World Games is called Peace and friendship tie, which is composed of elements such as Pentagon, Peace Pigeon, ribbon and number 7. The Ribbon modeling of the emblem symbolizes the vision of international cooperation in the new era of The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in China. It also resembles the natural landscape of the Yangtze River and the Han River in Wuhan, highlighting China's concept of peaceful development and regional cultural characteristics.
The shape of ribbon is like the number "7", symbolizing the upcoming seventh CISM Military World Games in Wuhan. It fits well with the spirit of international military sports "sports to transmit friendship" and the theme of this Wuhan Military Games "sharing friendship and building peace."
The mascot is called "Bingbing" which means soldiers in Chineses, and its design is inspired by the Chinese sturgeon, a migratory fish species in the Yangtze River, which is the first-class protected wildlife in China. It also contains the word "Chinese" in its name, indicating its host status. Chinese sturgeon are rare and have a long history, which requires greater protection and publicity to fully embody the concept of human care and ecological protection in the Military Games.
On July 28, 2019, China Mobile, as the sole partner of telecommunication operation service in the 7th CISM Military World Games, has achieved high-quality coverage of 4G network in 35 venues of the CISM Military World Games, and has built 528 5G base stations for venues, which will provide a variety of 5G competition services for the Military World Games.
There are 27 items and 329 items in 7th Military World Games, including swimming, track and field, volleyball, fencing, triathlon, boxing, shooting, football, basketball, taekwondo, judo, sailing, cycling, equestrian, golf, archery, table tennis and tennis (performance).
