After not having period for four months, a woman in Wuhan thought she had the second pregnancy, also her belly was bigger and bigger, but recently after getting a check in a hospital, she was told there was no fetus, just some grape- like tissues. Actually she got a rare disease which is called hydatidiform mole!
The woman is 44 years old, she already had a kid who is 10 years old. This June, she found her period stopped, also she had regurgitation, she did a pregnancy test at home and found she was pregnant. Discussed with her husband, she decided to keep the fetus. She felt very happy to see her belly became bigger and bigger day after day. Since she didn't do a lot of antenatal checks when giving birth to her first kid, so this time she also didn't go to a hospital for professional check. Last week, she felt very uncomfortable in her belly, also there was bleeding in her vagina, so she went to a hospital and did a B ultrasound. The doctor found in her uterus, there were many honeycomb-like non echo areas, no fetus at all. Two days later, the doctor did curettage for her.
Why there was no fetus after B ultrasound? The doctor said this is a rare hydatidiform mole, it is a bacteria disease nourished in gestation, the symptom is after pregnancy, villus nourish bacterium, villous stroma is extreme edema, form bubbles of different sizes, they connect to each other and form a bunch, just like grapes. The rate of getting the disease is one out of a thousand, pathogenesis is not known yet, but possible relates to inheritance, race, diet and etc.
Now two children are allowed in a family and this principle is widely spread, many women who were born after 70s or 80s want to have their second babies, but some of them are careless, don't do antenatal checks on time. Therefore, they are suggested to go to hospitals to get formal check, eliminate the possibility of hydatidiform mole, extrauterine pregnancy or etc.
After surgery of taking out hydatidiform mole, if patients have radiation reaction, they can take green tea, lotus root juice, almond, fig, honey, sea cucumber or crucian, also it is now allowed to have spicy food. If during treatment or after surgery, leukocyte, decreases, they can have lean meat, fishes, date, longan, quail, mushroom, soft-shelled turtle, walnut and etc which are anticancer or increase leukocyte. If patients have low appetite, dyspepsia, loose stool and etc, they can have perl barley, hawthorn, Chinese yam and pericarpium citri reticulatae which are TCM, kiwi fruit, loach, fat head fish, pond fish or grass carp to decrease the side effect.
