Interstitial cystitisIC is recurring pelvic pain, pressure, or discomfort in the bladder and pelvic region, often associated with urinary frequency (needing to go often) and urgency (feeling a strong need to go).

In the case of cystitis, adhesive pili allow bacteria to attach themselves to the internal wall of the bladder, this causes bladder cells to engulf the bacteria allowing the pathogen to invade the cells and avoid the chemical onslaught of conventional antibiotics. This means that an infection can lie dormant within the urinary tract and cause recurrent symptoms; a common problem with cystitis.

Having this chronic bladder inflammation is like having a urinary-tract infection on overdrive: It hurts like heck, and you constantly have to urinate, sometimes 60 times a day. While IC isn't an infection and can't be cured, pain relievers and other treatments can minimize its impact on your life. Perseverance is vital, though, because nothing works for everyone. It can take trial and error for you and your doc to find what helps you most.

Since IC can't be cured by antibiotics, Chinese herbal medicine has shown to be effective in treating cystitis among the treatments which worth trying. "Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill" has the effects of diuretic, promoting blood circulation and relivering pain. You can see improvements in one month. After 3-4 months, you can go to hospital for a test. Many patients' test result shows normal after the treatment. It worths trying.

It's possible for certain foods irritate your bladder, such as alcohol, aged cheese, artificial sweeteners, coffee, fruits, some nuts, processed meats, onions, rye bread, tofu, tomatoes and yogurt. Try eliminating all of them during the treatment.
