The following "do's" and "dont's" can help relieve your discomfort and may help prevent cystitis attacks

Do

1. Drink plenty of water, especially during the 48 hours of treatment.

2. Pass water as soon as you feel the urge. This will enable your body to "flush through" the impurities (bacteria).

3. Pass water whenever you feel the need, do not try to hold it in and always make sure you empty your bladder completely.

4. Try to pass water before and after intercourse

5. Use white unbleached toilet tissue.

6. Always wipe from front to back, to avoid passing germs from the anus to the urethra.

Don't

1. Drink alcohol, coffee, tea or acidic fruit juices as they are likely to make the symptoms worse.

2. Use perfumed soaps and bubble baths, or vaginal deodorants
