prostatitis patients should not drink plenty of water at bedtime. Drinking water is a habit that many people have, but to prostatitis patients, drinking water is not an unimportant thing. Dr.Lee suggest patients drink less water before going to bed.

Analysis: Why can prostatitis patients not drink plenty of water at bedtime?

It is a fact that urethra penetrates the middle of prostate gland. So when prostate diseases occur, micturition is firstly affected, and symptoms such as frequent urination, discomfort emiction and dysuria are likely to appear.

If patients drink water with two hours before going to bed, urine can not be discharged when they fall into a heavy slumber. At this time, holding urine can make detrusor tension weakened, which leads to dysuria. As a result, acute urinary retention is induced. What's more, frequent urination has directly influence on quality of sleep.

Attention: Drinking water should not be limited during the day

No much water at bedtime doesn't mean no water is good. Some patients hold a view that dysuria is a puzzle for prostatitis patient, then they are afraid of drinking water. In fact, this is a misunderstanding.

Why we say drinking water should not be limited during the day can be explained as: hypoposia can not only cause dehydration, but also make difficult in flushing the urethra and induce lithiasis.

All in all, prostatitis patients should make a habit of drinking appropriate amount of water and urinating regularly. For instance, much water is needed in the morning and at the noon, while less water is demanded in the after noon and at night.

1. Regular intercourse.
2. Avoid sitting for too long. Sitting for a long time can lead to or aggravate disease such as hemorrhoids, and cause congestion in perineum area.
3. Bathe with warm water. Warm water can release tension of muscle and prostate. Therefore symptoms can be retarded.
4. Secured yourselves against the cold. Cold is able to increase pressure within the urethra and lead to countercurrent.
5. Wise use of medication. Some medicine can make dysuria more serious.
6. Keep distance with spicy food and alcohol.
7. Drink more water during the day and urinate more. Because high concentrations of urine can irritate prostate more seriously.
