Normally, endometrium covers on the uterine cavity. If the endometrium grows outside, we call it endometriosis. Endometriosis is an often painful disorder. Endometriosis most commonly inside the pelvic cavity, involves your ovaries, bowel or the tissue lining the pelvis. Endometrial tissue rarely spread beyond pelvic region.

In endometriosis, displaced endometrial tissue continues to act as it normally would: It thickens, breaks down and bleeds with menses. And because this displaced tissue has no way to exit your body, it becomes trapped. Surrounding tissue can be irritated, eventually developing scar tissue and adhesions ?abnormal tissue that binds organs and other tissues together.

This process can cause pain - sometimes severe - especially during the period. It always causes fertility problems. Fortunately, effective treatments are available.

The most common and obvious symptom of endometriosis is pelvic pain, often, it is a secondary pain - it happens or is getting severer when endometriosis occurs. The pain can also occur before or after menses. They also tend to report that the pain has increased over time.

Common signs and symptoms of endometriosis may also include:
· Pain with intercourse.
· Pain with bowel movements or urination.
· Excessive bleeding.
· Infertility.
· Other symptoms such as fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, bloating or nausea, especially during menstrual periods.

For patients who's endometrium grows nearby the bladder, they may also experience periodic urgent urinate and frequent urinate. If the lesion occur on bladder mucosa, periodic bloody urine could happen.

Endometriosis is sometimes mistaken for other health conditions that can cause pelvic pain, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or ovarian cysts. It may be confused with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a condition that causes bouts of diarrhea, constipation and abdominal cramping. IBS can accompany endometriosis, which can complicate the diagnosis.

Treatment for endometriosis by traditional Chinese medicine often is that to use compound prescription with various herbs. In the recipe, herbs of following function are necessary:
