The following are the signs of major prostate problems. Except slight differences, majority of the prostate problems signs are similar in all the related diseases.
Three main prostate diseases are: prostatitis, BPH, prostate cancer.
Prostatitis
Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate gland. It is categorized into four major types, viz., acute bacterial prostatitis, chronic bacterial prostatitis, chronic pelvic pain and asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis. All these types of prostatitis can be treated through medication. The following are the symptoms of prostatitis.Burning sensation during urination:
Pain during urination
Frequent urination
Pain or discomfort in penis
Painful ejaculation
Chills
Nausea
Vomiting
Fever
BPH
Common symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia include the following:
Blood in the urine(i.e., hematuria), caused by straining to void
Dribbling after voiding
Feeling that the bladder has not emptied completely after urination
Frequent urination, particularly at night (i.e., nocturia)
Hesitant, interrupted, or weak urine stream caused by decreased force
Leakage of urine (i.e., overflowincontinence)
Pushing or straining to begin urination
Recurrent, sudden, urgent need to urinate
In severe cases of BPH,acute urinary retention(the inability to urinate) can result from holding urine in for a long period of time, alcohol consumption, a long period of inactivity, cold temperatures, allergy or cold medications containing decongestants or antihistamines, and some prescription drugs (e.g., ipratropium bromide, albuterol, epinephrine).
Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer signs do not necessarily show up especially in the early stages. Once you have had a PSA test or a digital rectal examination it can be found. Certain symptoms may show up if the cancerous tumour has made the prostate larger and it begins to press upon the urethra. This causes the passing of urine even more painful and difficult.
Some of the prostate cancer signs and symptoms are:
The need to pass urine often, especially at night
Urgency or intense need to urinate
Difficulty in stopping or starting the flow of urine
Not being able to urinate
Decreased, interrupted or weak stream of urine
Burning or pain during urination
Blood in the semen or urine
Ejaculation that is painful
